A study on the erosion of Niigata Beach from ERTS-A imageryCoastal erosion of Niigata Beach, Japan as a result of construction works is discussed. The application of ERTS-1 imagery for defining and monitoring the extent of the erosion is described. The contribution of ERTS-1 data to studies leading to effective erosion control methods are reported.
