Returned lunar sample analysisStudies on returned lunar samples are reported that emphasize the origin of the various lunar rocks. A heterogeneous accretion model and an igneous differention model are formulated and considered for the following three types of rocks: the iron rich basalts filling the mare basins; the KREEP basalts in Mare Imbrium and Oceanus Procellarum; and the anorthositic suite of the highlands.
