Atmospheric effects on coherent lidar systemsAtmospheric effects on lidar systems at 10.6 micron wavelength involving molecular absorption, aerosol scattering and refractive turbulence effects are discussed. Work on the combined effects of beam truncation and atmospheric refractive turbulence on the system performance are discussed, as well as the modeling of backscattering characteristics of atmospheric aerosols.
