A silicon surface barrier telescope for solar particles identificationFrom the results three conclusions can be made: (1) the detector system described and tested is capable of good charge resolution from He to Al although beyond Ne the statistic is very poor; (2) in the high gain mode, isotopic resolution has been achieved for Li-6/Li-7 Be-7/Be-9; (3) the much higher yield of He over He and of Be-9 over Be-10 in these types of nuclear reactions prevents obtaining experimental evidence of those isotopes, although it is believed that, at least He-3/He-4 can be resolved under other more favorable conditions (i.e., solar He-3-rich events).
