Astrophysical Constraints on Chondrule Formation ModelsThree petrologic constraints, heating and cooling timescales and the frequency of compound chondrules, are applied to the shock wave and lightning models of chondrule formation. Shocks fit the constraints well; lightning requires high gas densities.
