Gone But Not Forgotten: The Aeolian Modification of Fluvial Surfaces on Mars: Preliminary Results from Central AustraliaMOC images indicate that aeolian ridges may mask and even obliterate primary depositional surfaces on Mars. This modification increases the difficulty in mapping the recent geological history of the planet. An analogue study in central Australia demonstrates how patterns in aeolian dunes, formed over abandoned fluvial surfaces, can be used to detect buried fluvial features.
