Mariner Mars 1971 scan platform pointing calibrationA technique was devised for the Mariner Mars 1971 mission wherein both ground and in-flight calibrations were performed. A more analytical approach was used for ground calibration, and in-flight calibration was performed using narrow-angle television pictures of stars. The Mariner Mars 1971 calibration technique and results are summarized.
