Materials and design for ablative heat shieldsThe goal of the ablation technology program is to bring ablation research and development to a high state of readiness for application to space shuttle vehicles. Some recent results and current work in the areas of materials, designs, and refurbishment for ablative TPS are reported. Future research and development needs are also presented.
