Infrared chemiluminescence study of the reaction Cl + HI yielding HCl + I at enhanced collision energies.Performed chemiluminescence and beam experiments show a markedly increased efficiency of conversion of the reaction energy into vibration and a markedly enhanced tendency for forward scattering in the reaction Cl + HI yields HCl + I as compared with H + Cl2 yields HCl + Cl. These differences appear to be due predominantly to the difference in the masses involved.
