A comparative study of tensile fracture mechanisms.Identification of the failure mechanism characteristic for the more widely used carbon fibers in epoxy matrices under tensile loads as an aid toward improvements and more reliable predictions of the performance of these composites. The presented results pertain to high-strength, high-modulus, and low-modulus fibers in unmodified and modified epoxy novolac matrices.
