CPPB and vasopressin secretion.Discussion of the role of vasopressin (or 'antidiuretic hormone') secretory control system in the maintenance of central vascular volume, and critical comments about the latest paper by Barratz et al. (1971) on the interrelation of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and fluid balance during continuous positive pressure breathing (CPPB) in dogs. It is felt that, while the increase in plasma ADH levels occurring with CPPB has been more carefully defined in this last paper than previously, still more accurate definitions could be obtained under experimental conditions modified in accordance with presented suggestions.
