An ultrasonic scanning system for arterial imagingA transcutaneous system for real-time imaging of arteries is described. A transducer probe containing three linear arrays of elements scans tissues within the element Fresnel zones. Each element is multiplexed in turn to a pulsed Doppler processor to permit real-time visualizations of moving targets. Applications of the motion-indicating B-scans are discussed, with special attention to problems in transcutaneous measurement of blood flow.
