Magnetic environment of hydrogen in Fe from muon precession measurementsPolarized positive muon radiation was stopped in an ellipsoidal iron target and its precession was observed in a transverse magnetic field. Results indicate that the conduction electron polarization in the 77 K-Fe Curie point region is less than expected, and that the relaxation time of the muon polarization is dominated by the static inhomogeneity to 900 K, at which point magnetization fluctuations become important.
