Magnetization and magnetic susceptibility of DyH3The magnetization and differential magnetic susceptibility of powdered DyH3 samples are measured at a temperature of 4.2 K in applied magnetic fields ranging up to 9 Teslas. The differential magnetic susceptibility is also investigated in the zero applied field. Magnetization is plotted as a function of field strength, and differential susceptibility is described as a function of both field strength and temperature. A saturation magnetic moment of 5.12 Bohr magnetons per ion is derived from the magnetization data, and the zero-field susceptibility measurements are found to indicate antiferromagnetic ordering below 3.45 K. The susceptibility at 4.2 K is shown to have an inverse-square dependence on field strength for values of not less than 0.3 Tesla.
