Fluorine photochemistry in the stratosphereThe photochemistry of fluorine in the stratosphere is surveyed in order to estimate the effect on ozone of fluorine atoms released by the breakdown of chlorofluoromethanes. The catalytic efficiency for ozone destruction by fluorine is found to be less than .0001 that of chlorine in the altitude range from 25 to 50 km.
