Dust in the solar nebulaThe chemical and mineralogical features of the white, Ca-rich inclusions in Allende and other carbonaceous chondrites are strikingly similar to those predicted from thermodynamic models for the highest temperature condensates from the solar nebula. Many of the physical and chemical properties of the chondritic minerals may thus be quite like those of the dust in interstellar regions. The oxygen isotopic composition of meteoritic condensates suggests that they contain a component of interstellar dust that survived the birth of the solar system.
