States that give the maximum signal-to-quantum noise ratio for a fixed energyUnder a radiation power constraint, the maximum signal-to-quantum noise ratio obtainable for any state of a radiation field is found. This maximum value is achieved by the two-photon coherent states introduced previously to describe two-photon lasers.
