General aviation turbine engine /GATE/ conceptsThe paper deals with only a portion of the work done by Williams Research Corporation for NASA. It provides a look at possible new-generation powerplants that offer the potential for remarkable airplane performance gains with attendant safety, utility, productivity and life cycle cost benefits. Attention is given to a turboprop engine concept and applications. A turbofan engine having core components in common with the turboprop is also discussed and an airplane application shown. Some of the more important findings are presented.
