Transverse vorticity measurementsA technique, involving programmed digital calculations, is proposed for evaluating transverse vorticity in typical laboratory shear flows from an array of four hot-wire probes. The computing scheme successfully recovers the velocity vector information from a wide range of velocity magnitudes and a wide range of pitch angles. It is readily implemented in a batch process mode on a digital computer.
