Condensation on a noncollapsing vapor bubble in a subcooled liquidAn experimental procedure is presented by which an estimate can be made of the condensation coefficient on a noncollapsing stationary vapor bubble in subcooled liquid nitrogen. The present experimental study utilizes film boiling from a thin wire to generate vapor bubbles which remain fixed to the wire at their base. A balance was established between the evaporation in the thin annular region along the wire and the condensation in the vapor bubbles.
