Expansion cooled CO nuclear pumped laserThe paper describes a series of experiments designed to investigate the performance of a fission fragment excited CO laser with gasdynamic cooling. The experiments use a wall source of fission fragments to provide excitation of CO or CO gas mixtures. A separate investigation examines the effects on vibrational excitation distribution of CO or CO gas mixtures with the addition of UF6.
