Precision filament cutterAutomated cutter precisely chops filaments of glass, graphite, plastic, and other materials into fibers for use in composites and other applications. Cutter uses movable blade that is pushed and pulled across fixed blade. Because mass of movable blade is small and stroke is short, operation is fast, and wear and energy consumption are low. Blade cuts on both forward and return movements. Operator selects fiber length and chopping rate. After each cut, blast of air blows filament away so it can be collected.
