Dead reckoner navigation projectA previous dead reckoner involved a classical gyrocompass, a Hewlett-Packard minicomputer, and a true airspeed sensor. In an effort to bring the cost of this system more in line with the realities of general aviation, recent work was done on replacing the minicomputer with a microcomputer and implementing a fluidic rate sensor in the compass system in place of the directional gyro.
