Density measurements from crossed beams at high extinctionThe formulation of the crossed beam correlation technique is generalized to include strongly absorbing media. The first measurements of point density fluctuations at contact surfaces have been obtained. The presence of turbulent bursts is confirmed and a characteristic spectral frequency of approximately 400 Hz is estimated.
