Cryogenic orbit transfer vehicleStudies determined that shuttle optimized design, allowing the large space system and transfer vehicle in one shuttle flight, greatly reduces transportation costs and minimizes orbital operations. Careful attention to design resulted in efficient payload packaging. A minimum volume, high energy (liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen) transfer vehicle is described that allows maximum volume for the payload in the orbiter cargo bay.
