Wide-band diffraction improved dual-shaped reflectorsModified dual-shaped reflectors are discussed. These antennas have improved gain and gain over noise temperature (G/T) performance over the conventional uniform illumination design when diffraction effects are considered. A further advantage of the present design approach is its inherent broad-band characteristics. These considerations are vital for ultra-low noise systems as employed in the deep space telemetry service.
