GaAlAs laser temperature effects on the BER performance of a gigabit PCM fiber systemThe performance of a gigabit pulse-code modulation fiber system has been investigated as a function of laser temperature. The bit error rate shows an improvement for temperature in the range of -15 C to -35 C. A tradeoff seems possible between relaxation oscillation, rise time, and signal-to-noise ratio.
