Eddy-Current Damage Test for Carbon CompositesNondestructive test method detects cracks in materials of low conductivity. Test setup includes eddycurrent unit with frequency of 2 to 20 MHz/ and storage oscilloscope. High frequency required to assure depth of penetration less than substrate thickness, to prevent thickness from influencing reading. Eddy-current analysis confirmed by visual inspection as damaged area was sectioned and evaluated.
