Microwave radiance of early fall sea ice at 1.55 cmSatellite microwave radiance images at 1.55 cm are examined to determine the amount of ice which survives the arctic summer and to determine the regional variation of this multiyear ice emissivity. In the central arctic concentrations are measured in the range 0.75-0.95 and emissivities in the range 0.77 and 0.83 with high values of both near the Canadian Archipelago.
