Thermal expansion of graphite epoxyTwo optical techniques to measure the thermal expansion of fiber-reinforced composites are discussed. These techniques are moire interferometry and Fizeau interferometry. The pertinent features of each setup are presented and the preparation of the composite specimens discussed. Thermal expansion measurements in the range 116 to 422 K for 0 deg, 90 deg, and quasi-isotropic graphite-epoxy composite laminates are presented.
