Unconditionally stable implicit-explicit algorithms for coupled thermal stress wavesAn unconditionally stable implicit-explicit method is proposed for the analysis of transient coupled thermal stress waves, and the computer-implementation aspects of the method are discussed. In the method proposed here, the mechanical displacement and temperature are used as independent variables. The resulting coupled finite element matrix equations are symmetric.
