Strong, Lighweight Curved PanelsSandwich construction gives panels structural efficiency. Large panels with compound curvatures are formed from a honeycomb core faced with sheets of graphite/epoxy cloth and tape. Developed for pod on Space Shuttle, construction readily adapted to curved skin panels on cars, trucks, and airplanes.
