Static solutions in D = 3 Einstein-Maxwell theoryThe spacetime generated by a massive point charge in Einstein-Maxwell theory at three spacetime dimensions is obtained. Some of its properties include infinite total energy due to the slow fall off of the electric field, and necessary vanishing of the particle's charge if its mechanical mass is sufficient to close up space. Although g sub 00 vanishes on a coordinate circle, there is no event (but only a Killing) horizon and the curvature invariants are finite except at the source and at infinity. There are no static multi-charge solutions.
