Predicting Close Satellite EncountersMethod for predicting probabilities of collisions between nominally geosynchronous satellites gives results without large computer resources. Realistically assesses possibility of collision between expired, drifting satellite and active, station-keeping satellite. Mathematical techniques in paper useful in analysis of such terrestrial risks as floods and nuclear accidents.
