Highly Stable Microwave ResonatorSuperconducting walls on sapphire-filled cavity make low-loss device. Improved microwave resonant cavity consists of sapphire cylinder coated with thin film of superconducting lead. Operated well below superconducting transition temperature at 1.5K, cavity demonstrated superior frequency stability and quality factor. Cavity frequency highly stable and therefore suitable for use in standard frequency generators and filters.
