Galaxy formation in an Omega = 1 cold dark matter universeA model for galaxy formation is proposed which assumes that bright galaxies form where the primordial density fluctuations exceed a high threshold. Most of the mass in the universe is uncondensed or associated with low surface brightness galaxies. Physical mechanisms and predicitons for the galaxy-galaxy correlation function are discussed.
