Stabilizing PFAE Against OxidationProcess makes commercial perfluoroalkylether (PFAE) hydraulic fluid more stable in presence of metals in hot oxidizing atmospheres. Consists of thermal oxidation in presence of catalyst to remove weak links, followed by transformation of newly-created functional groups into phospha-s-triazine linkages, which impart antioxidation and anticorrosion properties. A 66-percent yield of stable PFAE obtained. Fluid used as lubricant, grease, or hydraulic fluid at temperatures from -55 to +300 degree C in presence of metals in oxidizing atmosphere.
