Interplanetary travel: Is gravity needed to close the loopEvidence has been accumulating from spaceflight and ground simulation studies suggesting that the normal relationship between neuroendocrine driving mechanisms and their respective target organs may become uncoupled; and that the sensitivity of the various components of the closed-loop systems may be altered. Changes in the regulation of the pituitary-adrenal system and the angioten-sinaldosterone system is discussed in support of this thesis.
