Cure study of soluble aromatic polyimide filmsSeveral soluble aromatic poly(amic acid) films were staged at intervals to 325 C and characterized by IR spectroscopy and various solution property techniques. A series of films in which the polymer had been endcapped in an effort to control chain extension was also examined. Much of the behavior observed is consistent with an interpretation that a reduction in molecular weight occurred during cure before the ultimate molecular weight was achieved as a polyimide.
