Status of the NASA continuing investigation of catastrophic balloon failuresThe findings and status of the continuing NASA investigation of catastrophic balloon failures, conducted following the adoption in 1984 of a new material specification, are reported on. Current efforts include a microstructual analysis, balloon stress studies, and seal investigations.
