Spectrum utilization for the International Space Station communications and tracking systemsThe frequency spectrum which will be used over the lifetime of the International Space Station Program is discussed. Primary communications traffic will initially occur in the S-band and Ku-band regions. Tracking will initially consist mostly of L-band satellite links. As the service demand increases, use of millimeter and optical wavelengths will be required. The particular space/ground links, space/space links, and other links that will be used are described.
