A study of SCATHA eclipse chargingThe events of charging of the SCATHA satellite in eclipse were investigated and correlated to the spacecraft surface-averaged and angle-averaged fluxes. It is shown that the large negative vehicle potentials produced in eclipse correlated with the net current due to the high-energy plasma electrons. These potentials also depend on the ion energy, ion current, and the average ion yield. An explanation for this behavior is proposed.
