Workshop in the skyAn evaluation of the historical experience of Apollo, Skylab, and the Space Shuttle shows it to be both feasible and prudent to furnish a minimal capability for Space Station maintenance. The ability to perform orbital replacement unit-related maintenance, as well as opportune in-orbit repair, is believed to be essential for crew and Station survival, mission effectiveness, and maximum productivity. Attention is given to problems associated with mechanical repair, welding, and composite bonding, as well as to recommended tools and procedures.
