Simultaneous computation of jet turbulence and noiseThe existing flow computation methods, wave computation techniques, and theories based on noise source models are reviewed in order to assess the capabilities of numerical techniques to compute jet turbulence noise and understand the physical mechanisms governing it over a range of subsonic and supersonic nozzle exit conditions. In particular, attention is given to (1) methods for extrapolating near field information, obtained from flow computations, to the acoustic far field and (2) the numerical solution of the time-dependent Lilley equation.
