Robust vortex methods for three-dimensional incompressible flowsVortex methods for the numerical simulation of incompressible three-dimensional flows at high Reynolds number are discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on schemes that prevent the excessive generation of mesh elements, include viscous effects, and are relatively inexpensive even as the number of elements becomes large. Several simulations are presented involving the interaction of vortex rings.
