New detections of CO emission from four spiral galaxiesA CO survey of external galaxies was conducted to compare observations with computational models of the evolution of the neutral interstellar medium. The paper presents preliminary results of CO detections and mapping in the following systems: NGC 628, 1637, 4258, and 5055. The variation of the velocity dispersion along the major axis versus the radius for NGC 628 is described.
