Friction And Wear Of Silicon CeramicsReport presents results of experimental study of friction and wear in unlubricated sliding of silicon-based ceramics on Inconel(R) 718 nickel-based alloy. Both monolithic and fiber-reinforced ceramics tested at temperatures from 25 to 800 degrees C. Evaluates ceramic materials for potential use as cylinder liners, piston caps, and other engine parts subjected to sliding or rubbing.
