Thermal and chemical processing of the outermost layer of cometary nucleiA non-equilibrium mechanism that may produce substantial thermal and chemical processing of the outermost layer of cometary nuclei is proposed. If this phenomenon does occur, its effects will impact the interpretation of results from the CNSR and CRAF missions.
