An overview of the information management component of RICISInformation management is the RICIS (Research Institute for Computing and Information Systems) research area which covers four types of tasks initiated during the first year of research: (1) surveys - a description of the existing state of some area in computing and information systems; (2) forecasts - a description of the alternative future states of some area; (3) plans - an approach to accomplishing some objective in the future; and (4) demonstrations - working prototypes and field trials to study the feasibility and the benefits of a particular information system. The activity in these research areas is described.
