Optogalvanic spectrum of argon in the visible wavelength region 4150-6700 AOptogalvanic spectrum of argon has been investigated in the visible wavelength region 4150-6700 A by axially irradiating a hollow cathodic discharge with an excimer pumped dye laser. About 180 transitions have been recorded and a majority of them have been identified using the Jl-coupling scheme. The optogalvanic spectrum in the regions 4300-5300 and 6010-6700 A is being reported in detail for the first time. The optogalvanic signal intensities are found to agree with atomic transition probabilities. A technique has been discussed to record a maximum number of transitions in optogalvanic effect.
